Juneau, in the Burough of the same name.is located on the mainland of Southeast Alaska, along the Gastineau Channel. It is 600 air miles Southeast of Anchorage, and is the third largest community in Alaska. Juneau has a Tlingit history with a strong influence from the early prospectors. The tourist trade drives the economy and it is supported largely by State and Federal employment.
